A Letter Title - To The Smash Community [It's Time to Grow Up]

This week should have been nothing but hype with Apex 2015 quickly approaching, EVO2015 game announcement being held this week. All of this coming on the tail end of 2 very exciting tournaments. The scene for Smash is anything but grass roots at this point and it is insane to think that just 2 years ago it was struggling to survive. However times have changed and things are definitely only getting better.

Music - 10 Days of EDM [Complete]

It has been a thrilling 10 days and I loved doing all the research for this project. I decided to do this at the last minute when I only had 10 days left before Christmas. However I think it turned out well. If you would like to see something like this next year before Christmas then be sure to let me know. It will more than likely not be EDM specifically but will be some kind of 10 Days of (whatever I decide to be the topic). Below you’ll find a link to all the past days.

Music - 10 Days of EDM [Day 10]

When people think of Dubstep most tend to think of Skrillex. While his music is definitely amazing I think it is but a small fraction of the Dubstep genre which is full of amazing styles and techniques. It is the genre that brought me fully into EDM along with House music. I had always listened to EDM in some capacity before but like I mentioned in Day 6 that it was the Remixes of Calvin Harris’s track, “Flashback,” that pulled me in. On the final day of 10 Days of EDM we’ll be looking at Dubstep.

Music - 10 Days of EDM [Day 8]

Chiptune is one of those genres I have listened to for years but never knew was an EDM genre until I got into it more. I would look for 8-bit versions of my favorite songs like the Gameboy Version of Bad Apple for instance. It is the product of synthesized electronic music produce via sound chips on older computers and game consoles as well as arcade machines. Even emulation may be used as an alternate method for producing the sounds needed. I think one of the reasons why I love the Chiptune genre is because of the nostalgia it has.
